i want [to spec] that... Tucker wall panel by modulararts

I've always loved the textured wall panels by modulararts, but this one simply has me giddy. Don't you want to run your hands over it?!

how cool is this?! papercuts by joe.

Guys [& dolls gals]!! LOOK AT THESE! Hand-cut...not machine. HAND CUT. wowsa.

I discovered Papercuts by Joe while over at Indie Fixx & started drooling. These are presented so professionally. Seriously. Browse through his gallery. The presentation has such a great sophisticated + museum installation vibe.
I love that there are triptychs & multiple pieces that are focused on negative space --and I believe he's self-taught. For those of you that have never had any artsy projects requiring you to use the negative space & to forget the positive-- it's not easy. It's like trying to remember to sing harmony when you want to slip right over to melody. It's reverse of how you'd normally compute an image.

Oh, & he had me at NPR.

i want that... kamal coasters.

So this morning I was sipping my coffee & going through my emails. These really cute textile-inspired cards were featured on Frolic. Loved the style, checked them out &--ooh--pretty coasters

I can't believe I'm typing this, but these really would make adorable presents for the upcoming holidays*.

*Seriously, I know people that are upset that they're only [only, they say!] half-way through their Christmas shopping.

i want that. fore axel and hudson boy's golf inspired clothing.

So my boy heads back to school next week. This year he'll be heading to school uniform-style. I'm okay with that & was actually one of the mean mommies that voted for the uniforms last year at PTA. But, even I have to admit that it hurts a smidge not to use "clothes for school" as an excuse for the cutest boys' clothing ever!

You can find Fore Axel and Hudson at various Bloomingdale's and Neiman Marcus stores - click here to see the list. The story behind the name is cute, although I did come across this line before the scandals came up...but these adorable outfits can't suffer from that!

I love hats & have managed to brainwash Alex into thinking fedoras are the coolest accessory to sport.

However, this brown skull print driver cap is my absolute fav. My pal JP & I both want this in adult size!

And, no, the line is not just hats! There are whole outfits too. See
However, frilly pink little girl stuff you will not find here! But I'd say that it's about time a designer came up with something scrumptious just for the boys! Girls almost always seem have cute things...a switch is nice.

For this post, I say boys rule & girls can drool over these very cool outfits.

i want that. feminine + dreamy.

Blooms Summer scarf by Leah Duncan
I'm such an odd girl. I love floral & bird themed, well, anything - but I can only take it doses. This would be one of those doses! Excluding my studio [because that's bona fide man hell - Mr. JD confirms], I have hints of girly things here & there...but nothing overwhelming.
Right, so the point...

I came across these shops & just fell head over heels in love. Seriously, how great is that floral scarf by Leah Duncan?! Visit her Etsy shop & check out her art [like this great bike print].

& then I also came across lunarbelle on Etsy [well, she put me in one of her serene treasuries - thanks!-...so I guess she came across me first, huh?].  Okay so, again, the point is she makes fabulous jewelry. So much of the jewelry looks the same on Etsy, especially when it comes to the beaded crystal stuff...

...but isn't her stuff is stunning? Her colors & combos are so well done. These are definitely a few of my favorites. Funny, do you think "because it they match the living room" is a good enough excuse?!

i want that. manly, yet stylish, medley

←←←←←←←←←←←← ♥ Love these wooden 40's bowling pins. There are a ton a great manly finds in bluebellbazaar's etsy shop!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
♥ Like baseball? Check out these cufflinks then!
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

♥ How great is this bow tie tutorial?! Do you understand the grimacing I do when I take Alex out shopping? Generic boys clothing & accessories are * b o r i n g *....& Mr. JD always says something like: "It's just a [fill in the blank]. Who cares what it looks like?" MEN [HUMPH].

♥ Need a man refuge - too much lace & flowers inside the house? Well, hello inspired backyard offices + studios! Love the log cabin recording studio!

Do you know how much this makes me smile?! Of course Alex thinks his Marvel Comics-themed memory game is way cooler, but I'll let him slide.

i want[ed] that. superdeluxe nyc.

See those fabulous coasters in the top right? I'm teasing you because it seems that Superdeluxe NYC is no longer up & running. At least their website is down & nothing pulls up on an internet search. Serves me right waiting two years, right?!

I found another post tooting their horn on Dose of Design [here].

If anyone has some info or know if the company is still around, please let us know!

i want that. twitter ID necklaces

These are too cool! Okay, I admit that Twitter isn't my favorite mode of social interaction. Hey, I like it one step above texting [ha, that one really does bug a couple of my friends!]. For those that text nonstop, I can understand the appeal...but can someone tell me how you handle the constant barrage of updates? It baffles me as to why anyone chooses to be that tied to a single piece of equipment no matter the compact size!

But of course I still use Twitter & I do enjoy the occasional eavesdropping of Neil Gaiman & Kevin Smith baiting the other as much as anyone else [so you substitute your own favs, okay]. These customized necklaces from Survival of the Hippest would make a fabulous gift for the guy, or gal, that turns Twitter-ing into an extracurricular activity!

Tweet, tweet!

i want that. JenniPenni photography

Okay, I should find something brooding to pair with the Ides of March. Brutus this or Caesar that. But I just can't do it. I'm cleaning out my email & came across a link to this....

...glorious picture! I love this picture by JenniPenni on Etsy. And outside is sunny & breezy...not quite warm, but still a lovely day for a romp at the park. Check out the rest of her beautiful photography available at her Etsy shop and also on her Flickr photostream.

Happy Monday!

i want that. Taeeun Yoo illustrations

I'm in love. It is possible that I drool over art more than I do shoes, bags, etc. Then again, well made shoes, bags, etc should be considered a form of art. Well, at least in my own little world...

I came across this Library print by yoote on Etsy. 1) books. 2) r e d book [good hue, too]. 3) illustration.

Love it.

I spent a lot of time working in pen & ink during college. The b-w art is an old assignment done with a ton of Micron pens! It's about 18x24 not including the frame and mat...many hours clocked into that piece.

Her [Taeeun Yoo] illustrations have a mild sketchy manner to them that I love. Plus, there's emphasis on her tonal work--which, again, I love. Oh, okay, & she seems to include a lot of black cats too! [my 1st pet was a black cat + my nickname...got it, good]
&
So after checking out the goods at her Etsy shop [drool], I stop by her website & blog. Turns out she's a children's book author & illustrator [go figure]. Go check out her lovely work!

Art is such a personal thing, but I hope you enjoy!
